Hello and welcome to read my blog about travelling in Japan. My name is Iiris Uusi-Kilponen, I’m a Finnish student of Interior Architecture and Design. Japan has always been an entreating land for me but I’ve never had an opportunity to go there, until now.

This blog is where I share entertaining stories, useful travel tips, tell which cities I’ve visited and if it was worth it. And of course I’ll be sharing amazing photography of the beautiful land of Japan. I want to share everything that has been inspiring, interesting , terrifying, different, beautiful and/or culturally enriching. If you have something to suggest as a reader, for example places to visit or food to taste in Japan, please do comment freely. Tips are very welcome!

I have traveled quite a lot in Europe and I’m open for different cultures and they inspire me a lot as a designer. From the exchange time, I’m looking for good cultural experiences and basis for interior designing. In the future I’d like to cooperate with Japanese designers. I admire their talent for aesthetics and I think that we Finnish share a lot of same values in designing but also in living. We both honor good materials, craftsmanship, arts and hard-working.

I think I’ve always been quite good in languages and therefore I’m also initiative to study more. Before entering to a new land I think it’s important to know a little bit about their culture and at least to know few polite words. I have gained 2 years of studies of Japanese during my time in my Finnish University. I can speak 5 languages: Finnish which is my native, Swedish which is Finland’s second official language, English, Spanish and Japanese.
